Lauren looked stunning and so did the bridesmaids and very cute page boy and flower girl. Ross and Lauren married on the 16th April by Lauren's mother (Rev Gaayl Mills) at All Saints Church. This was a beautiful family wedding. The bridal party photo shoot was around the National Gallery at sunset and beyond. Most of the shots were taken in very low light making use of the lights provided on the outside of the gallery.
It was cold but everyone was in high spirits and we had a hoot taking these shots.The reception was at the boat house.

Larissa and Bruce married on the 19th of February at the National Botanical Gardens. The ceremony was held in the rain with all the guest tucked under umbrellas.

Karli World and Anthea took these wonderful photographs under difficult weather conditions and a tight time constraint.

The bridal party was wonderful and lots of fun was had by all despite the rain.

Tegan and Philip married on the 15th of January at the Botanic Gardens. Tegan look fantastic in her red dress. They greeted all their guests before the wedding , which made everyone feel very welcomed.

Alan and Maree's wedding was on the 27th of November at Nara Gardens.

These gardens are always great for a photography shoot as there is so much variety. The plum trees are a favourite of mine. The photograph of Maree surrounded by red leaves is absolutely stunning! We also went to OPH rose gardens then the Regatta boat jetty. It was a perfect day, although Alan and Maree were kissing lots! Lol.

Chloe and Ben married on 6 November at the Brassey of Canberra. It was a cold windy day. We managed to stay in high spirits even though it was freezing. This was such a romantic wedding as you can see from the lovely photographs. It was very intimate with family members all cooking the bridal banquet. Aleksandra was amazing during the photoshoot as it was freezing and she still managed to look relaxed. Thanks to both of you form Melissa and I.

Kate and Matthew married on October the 23rd at Old Parliament House Rose Gardens.
The just managed to hold off for the ceremony. We also managed to work around the rain and get some outdoor photographs before going to the Hotel Realm for the reception. It was still lots of fun.
I love the lolly table and so did all their guests.

OMG what a great day this was! Kristy dressed at the wonderful hotel Realm and the wedding was out at the Chapel. Kristy and Brandon's son Max was so cute during the ceremony especially when he ran up to his mum when she was making her grand entrance down the aisle and tried to pull off her veil.
We cruised around Hall for the bridal party shoot and had such a laugh with Kristy and Brandon being invited into someones garden for photos. Their dog was gigantic! Lots of great shots for a fab wedding album. Thanks to the outrageous bridal party as well.

These beautiful photos were taken on the 2nd October at Harshika and Patrick's wedding. Harshika looked stunning in her sari and the bridesmaids looked fantastic as well. They married at The Chapel and had a dove release http://www.dovesaway.com.au/ straight after. There was just enough light left to take some bridal party shots around the grounds of The Chapel. They had a hummer for transportation and enjoyed the loud music inside the car. The reception was at The Abbey across the road.

Carla and Andrew had a wonderful wedding on the 25th of September. They married were married at Saint Christophers church by Father Tony Fray. I just loved Carla's dress and her head piece. Her dad built the wall at New Parliament House, so that was a perfect location for some bridal party photographs. The light was perfect and we all had lots of fun. Thanks Carla and Andrew. x

Giving my clients their beautiful photographs in a reasonable time frame is always a priority over keeping up with blogging and facebook, so unfortunately I can't post every wedding or portrait shoot that I do.
Though I will always take requests from clients that would like their photos to feature in my blog.

OMG I've been so busy already

I've really had to hit the ground running since My European holiday. (So grateful that I had that rest).
Things have been busy in the studio with lots of portraits, weddings and commercial work.
We have had 3 work expereince students through. A big thank you to Racheal from Calwell High and Samantha and Natasha from Stromlo High for your enthusiasm in working with us.
We have had a great interest in the Affinarti range of portraits and have commissions to create art work of clients for their walls. I have also put together 2 books that I am hoping to have published, fingers crosssed.
Feeling very creative and inspired at the moment.

Just back from a wonderful 5 week family holiday in Europe. There was 8 of us in total...my daughters, Dad, brother, nephew, niece and her boyfriend. We had such great time with the highlight being visiting our father's family in Slovakia. My father's father married 4 times and had 14 children so we had lots of family to meet! At the beginning of our holiday my daughter Kellie spent 4 days in hospital having intravenous antibiotics due to a post-op infection after having her appendix removed 2 weeks prior to our holiday.

OMG I am so far behind on my blogging that I can only pick randomn wedding photos to post. My daughter had an attack of appendicitis which went un diagnosed for a week before she had her appendix removed.

The surgeon was brilliant and managed to perform the operation by key hole. Thankfully, she is recovering quickly.

I photographed Gemma and Josh's wedding a while back. It was a gorgeous colourful wedding at the Divine Function Centre. Gemma and Josh make a beautiful couple as you can see from the images below.

Kris and Frosty married on 10 April at St Lukes, Grant Springs church which is on Kris's parents property "Thalaba" in Crookwell.
Kathleen and I absolutely loved photographing this wedding!
We had a long drive to get to Thalaba with the spare time allocated for a cuppa void, due to taking a wrong turn and ending up in the middle of nowhere. Kathleen and I had to hit the ground running which was fortunaely made easy by the wonderful attitude of Kris and her family.
We didn't really know what to expect......we had a tiny church, an old whoolshed complete with dead fox and rifles!!
Kris and Melinda looked very classy, Frosty and Fred looked great as well. This wedding was a black tie affair with the reception in the main woolshed.
Kris and Frosty look so happy and you can feel the love in the photographs. We had a lot of fun as you can see from the art images.

Thanks Kris and Frosty for being so relaxed in front of the camera and supprising us in what you were willing to do.

Exhibition at Carbon Black Gallery, Prahran

John Frohlich and I currently have a photographic exhibition called "Affinarti - Photographic Haikus" in a trendy gallery called Carbon Black, at 188 High Street Prahran, Melbourne. We had been working on this artwork for the past year and it was such a buzz to see it finally hanging in a gallery. Many thanks to Tim the owner for his professionalism and good nature. The art work even sold before the opening.

We had the privilege of John's friends Scott Brisbane and Jill Anderson exhibiting in the upstairs rooms at the same time.These are some of the pictures taken on the opening night before it became packed with people. We were very happy that some of our models Julie, James and Jo flew down for the opening and celebrated with us afterwards.Also a special thank you to my cousins Di and Trish, Aunty Sylvia, Adam, Gemma and Xavier for celebrating with me and making my night fun.

Affinarti - Photographic Haikus explores human consciousness and the natural environment. Using a series of photographic images, natural elements such as earth, air, water and fire are merged with representations of various human states of being.

The works also eoke a sense of history, mythology, ideology and the subconscious by blending images of ancient civilisations, space and the contemporary world with the naked form.

Traditionally, Haiku poetry combined an image with a meditation on that image. Affinarti uses the photographic medium to create poetic visual metaphors.

Georgia and Jeremy's wedding was beautiful ; this couple are so much in love. Georgia wore the most exquisite dress! It rained heavily all day and we had to take cover for the photo shoot. It was lots of fun anyway and the umbrella's came in handy. This wedding is a great example of how lovely wedding photos can be even in bad weather, everyone just needs to be flexible.

19 December 2009 Lambert Winery and Vineyards

Gabbie and Mark like to be different and this shined through on their wedding day, with Gabbie wearing a stunning red dress and Mark's children being the bridesmaid and best man. I loved the way Eleanor and Ben are a cherished part of Mark and Gabbie's life, and how they obviously love Gabbie. It is so refreshing to see family being valued and this resonated throughout the whole wedding, guests included.

Gabbie looked stunning and remained so despite the sudden change in temperature and resulting icy wind.

We all ended up with red noses and numb fingers after the photo shoot, but as you can see the resulting photographs were worth the big freeze.

Hope you love them as much as I do Gabbie and Mark!

Chris and Warren first gay couple marriage ceremony

Chris and Warren were the first gay couple to marry in Australia after legislation was past in parliament the previous day. They married in the grounds of old parliament house with close friends and family attending as well as a horde of press photographers and television cameras. The highlight was a dove release to symbolize the freedom to marry,of gay people all over Australia. It was a very moving occasion and Chris and Warren are such wonderful people. They had another marriage ceremony in early December where lots more people were invited to celebrate with them.

It was such a hot day, however Jenny and Ivar still managed to look like movie stars. They married on the 17 December at the House of Reps, Rose Gardens.
I have had so much heartache trying to decide what images to post, there are so many beautiful photographs. Jenny and Ivar met here whilst studying at university and now live in Ivar's home country Norway. Whilst we are having a heat wave Jenny tells me she would be warmer living in her freezer, with temperatures plumating to -41!!

OMG I can't beleive how far behind I am with my blogging. December was a bit of a blur with having to work 7 days a week and lots of nights to keep up. I had to forego all the Christmas festivities except my kids.
I finished work late afternoon Christmas eve and have done lots of sleeping and relaxing since. It was sooo wonderful.

Anyway here are some images from Claire and Jason's wedding on the 14th of November. It was such a hot day and I still can't believe that Claire walked to the church with her boots on! This wedding was on the 7th of November at Murramarang Resort, a beautiful place on the south coast.

What amazing people Jessica and Rob are, and a gorgeous couple as well. Jessica wasn't well on her wedding day (and ended up having to have surgery 4 days after) but they didn't let on, so everyone else could enjoy. The day was so windy but Rob and Jessica were never bothered. All the guests had a hoot of a time judging by the stories that Jessica has since told me. A big thank you to my assistant Eleni who ended up de sanding the bridal bed.

PhotoAccess in for life exhibition

I created these images one Sunday morning for the PhotoAccess members "In for life" exhibition. PhotoAccess is celebrating it's 25th anniversary. I used to work there as the workshop manager overseeing the darkrooms , community access, course program and teaching. I have many wonderful memories of this time. The image of the bird in the sand is called "Together" and is a metaphor for life: you can hurry along only seeing your destination and miss so much or slow down, be in your body, experience and enjoy the now. I had the luxery of meandering along the beach, feeling the sand between my toes,the breeze on my face and smelling the ocean. I saw and photographed a piece of seaweed in the shape of a bird and then a feather floating in the ocean. These form 'Together'... bird/feather....sand/sea...here/now.

It's been a few weeks since my last posting. I am always so busy; being a single Mum with 2 teenage girls with a successful photography business to run. The weddings are tapering off and I have been doing lots of portraits and commercial work. One of the highlights was photographing the 'Together' concert at the National Museum where Elena Kats-Chernin and William Barton performed some awesome music back by an orchestra. The atmosphere was ethereal due to the amazing lighting of the Museum. I really love my job!

These are 2 of the many portrait sittings I have done. The little boy is BJ and he just smiled non stop.... he is just so cute. The other cute boys had this photograph taken to give to their mum as a mothers day gift. She was so happy with it!!

D-Marie and Huw Botanical Gardens Canberra

D-Marie and Huw were married on the 18 of April at the Botanical Gardens. It was a very touching ceremony. Huw and D-Marie had been living in separate cities before the wedding and you could feel how happy they were to finally be together. We had a relaxing time taking the photos although a sprinkler came on whilst we were in the rainforest! I am really looking forward to catching up with Huw and D-Marie to do their album plan.

My wonderful friend Hilary www.hwp.com.au was short listed in the "Head On" alternative portrait prize. We went up to Sydney for the exhibition opening, which was at the Centre for Photography.

George Negus opened the exhibition and it was a real pleasure to meet him. Hilary's entry was a very beautiful and sensitive photograph taken of her dear friend Billy just after his death from cancer. The winning entry was also of a person who had passed away. It was taken in a controversial way since the photographer straddled the coffin to snap the shot.

The guys looked fab too! The atmosphere was fun and Nara Gardens always yields great results.

I mucked around in photoshop last night with some of these images, looking for unusual and funky effects. I feel very chuffed with what I created. It's often late at night that you stumble on some great effects. Yet again too many brilliant photographs to choose from so I have uploaded a lot!

Why is life so busy and crazy? Nearly everyone I speak to is also rushing around with little time to contemplate how to slow down. I swear last week I was sucked up into a whirlwind spinning with gusto! I just want to spend a couple of hours on my swing seat on the back deck reading and snoozing.

Anyway the highlight of last week was a quick trip down to Melbourne to attend a charity ball fundraiser for breast cancer. It was hosted by the AIPP and the theme was "celebrating women in photography". There was lots of inspiring images and stories. My lovey friend Leonie Keogh from Snowgum Studios http://www.snowgumstudio.com.au/ was the only women from Canberra whose work was selected to be displayed so Hilary Wardhaugh http://www.hwp.com and I just had to accompany her (I know life is tough!)

Karli and I had a fantastic time photographing Kate and Mick's wedding last weekend. It was out at Royalla on Sandy and Rick's property. Sandy designed the stunning gardens!!! Melba and Eleftherios are very much in love and were married on the 10th of January 2009 at the South Coast. The day was filled with the warmth of family and friends.
